Basic Facts about a Metal Halide Light Bulb
Metal halide light bulbs are widely used by people growing indoor plants. They give off a blue-white light that is very beneficial to young plants as it helps them mature more quickly and effectively than other lamps used for the same purpose. This is not to say that metal halide light bulbs are ideal for every plant or situation, so one needs to have a little knowledge on indoor gardening. These bulbs have been proven to be very effective and most indoor gardeners preferentially pick them for use in their greenhouses especially those dealing with young plants.
Just like other fluorescent bulbs, metal halide light bulbs will require proper ballast in order for them to function well. The ballast regulates the amount of electricity flowing through the metal halide light bulbs. It is therefore very crucial that the right ballast is chosen according to the amount of light required. In addition to the standard ballasts, there are now newer and better digital ballasts that are very easy to use and are growing increasingly popular amongst indoor gardeners. These new ballasts allow the lights to be dimmed appropriately to closely simulate natural light conditions inside the greenhouse.
In addition to the standard wattage used for regular light bulbs, metal halide light bulbs will also have temperature ratings given in degrees Kelvin (K). This is a measure of the heat produced by the light bulb when in use. The bulbs come in a wide range of ratings, from 4100K up to 20000K, and it is upon the indoor gardener to know which Kelvin rating is ideal for his plants. It is important to know that these bulbs get extremely hot and require proper cooling so that they do not short out. That is why it is advisable to have cooling fans for the metal halide light bulb system.
A properly set up metal halide light bulbs system provides a conducive environment for the growing and vegetative phase of plants. One can even go a step further and supplement the lighting with metal halide actinic bulbs. This is a special form of metal halide light bulbs that produce white light instead of the usual blue. There will be much improved growth and maturation whenever the white light from a metal halide actinic bulb is used to supplement the blue light from the customary metal halide light bulbs.
When one wants to set up a metal halide light bulbs system, there are several factors to consider before venturing out shopping for the same. It is important to keep in mind the costs involved. Comparing the prices in different establishments is advisable. One should also bear in mind the other components of the metal halide bulb system, mainly the ballasts and the cooling fans. Durability is also a very important consideration since no one wants to be changing the bulbs all the time. Lastly, the efficiency of the whole metal halide light bulbs system is very important, and one must know what wattage and Kelvin ratings are most suitable for them.

On an NEC 338 mobile phone I have a tree symbol and a blue bulb with a line through it. Also?
it beeps for two seconds itermittently, for a few hours in the day, then stops. Cannot find what any of these symbols mean in the handbook or what the beeping means. Can someone help please as the beeping is driving us mad and can't figure out how to stop it. Thanks for any help you can give.
I had a similar problem with my phone,its top do with the signal. When you lose signal it beeps when the signal is back.
You could try and see how Strong the signal is in your area fro the network you are on.
