How do I stop my 3 year old Lab dog eating faeces and wood?
This is a desperate plea for help with this problem. Walking is spoilt by our dogs continuous search for faeces and wood to eat. We prevent him eating his own in the garden by clearing up straight away. We have coaxed, scolded, ignored the problem but it really is spoiling our enjoyment of walks - not to mention the frequent aftermath of this habit which is staining carpets and/or costing vet bills! He is fed (Eukaneuba) exactly the same as our 3 year old female Labrador (not related) who loves walking, fetching, playing etc. We have considered an impulse collar but he has had one fit last year and we are apprehensive about the effect this may have on him. Many thanks to all for help!
My Lab is 14 years old and he is still eating feces,concrete and wood. My vet said it is normal and will not hurt him. We tried everything we could think of but nothing helped. he has even eaten cactus and Rose Bushes.Good luck to you.Labs are just special animals.
