How to wire a 4 connector audio jack (female)?
I have an 3.5mm audio jack with 4 connector tabs (one bent over), how should this be wired up??
Stereo Phone Plugs have a Tip, a Ring and a Sleeve. Tip and Ring are for Left and Right channels and Sleeve is for common ground. In the Jack, if you have a fourth tab, it may be for a switch. Look closely, as you insert the plug into the jack, do you see a pair of contacts connecting and disconnecting? One application is for disconnecting the internal speakers when connecting headphones. If you don't to disconnect anything, then don't wire the fourth tab.
