Modernization of Police Lights
Police cars are identified with the light bars on their roofs. Normally, these lights are of white red and blue colors. Policemen provide security to us while apprehending offenders. The police car has got modernized in keeping with modern trends. Instead of the old lights with rotating beams the new police lights have arrived. They emit bright light to illuminate the area around the police car. The colors also are bright and you can identify a police car from a distance. As the bright light illuminates the area, no one will ram his car into the police car parked on the roadside.
The LED technology has hit everywhere, where there are lights. Police car is not an exception. It has the option to have a bright LED light on its grille for anyone to know that the police car is parked there. Even if the police lights on the cross bar on top of the car are switched off, the one the grill could be kept on to warn the motorists coming from the opposite direction. As they consume very little electricity, they could be kept switched on without any fear of their being a strain on the battery.
Usually the light bar on the roof of a police car has blue white and red lights. These are colors exclusively used by the police. Though you also have the option to have such a light on top of your car, you must not select the same colors. If you select the same colors you might not be allowed to use your newly purchased set of lights. According to law may be you cannot use the same colors. It appears that there are slight differences in the colors used in police lights in different states. Though they are not big differences you must check the lights used in your state before purchasing your set of LED lights. You must not be confused as a law enforcement officer.
One more advantage with modern light fixtures in the police cars is that when they go to a scene of an accident or any other incident, there is no need for you to turn car headlights to illuminate the scene. The lights atop the police car illuminate the whole area. It serves a dual role. It warns the motorist that that there is a traffic block here and the other thing it illuminates the area.

What is a "std rate" switch used for?
I brought a flat a few months ago and have a switch in my hall way labeled "std rate".
I have no clue what it is, the flat is 3 years old so it is a new build in the UK, but i have been wondering what it is for.
It looks like a standard light switch by the way but it has a red light above the switch which illuminates when the switch is activated.
Does anyone else have one of these or knows what its for?
I am guessing that it may be a switch used to enable your electric heat and bypass the off peak meter. If the case you would be on the standard rate meter which would cost you more.
