Your suggestions will be appreciated ...(design...pic included)?
I am designing an electronic enclosure, which looks like this
http://s362.photobucket.com/albums/oo62/arnav043/?action=view¤t=DESIGNDRAFT1.jpg
I need to fix 2 LEDs (light emmiting diodes) on the panel, but I am constrained by 1) sealing requirements 2)space available on panel
the LEDs are mounted on a PCB behind it along with the other 3 connectors....I have seen hermetically sealed LED holders but they are too large, I cannot use up more than a 5mm dia hole for the LED panel cut out
any suggestions will be appreciated
Thank You
You can have clear plastic inserts through the holes, and the LEDs just mount inside the box. The inserts can be shaped just like a bolt with an "O" ring between the bolt head, which is outside, and the panel. Inside a metal washer and nut. You need a groove the right depth so the "O" ring gets a gentle/controlled squeeze greater than the pressure expected. The plastic "bolts" can be hollow for the LEDs, but it probably doesn't matter.
With a good mechanical drawing like you have made, you could get a machine shop to turn them up from acrylic rod.
Think about those security door viewers people have to inspect the visitors before opening the door.
This box may have an altitude rating for air transport, unless you put a tiny bleed hole in it. If not, its a good idea to pressurize it slightly to make it easier to open. I think thoise mil connectors you show have a seal rating like 2 psi if they are the rubber insulation type??
